Happy New Year Foster Family!! We wish all of you a year full of love, faith, peace and family. As we start this new year, we’re going to recap the lovely times we had together last year as a family.
The 2024 Foster Family Reunion was held in Memphis, TN and it did not disappoint. We had over 100 Foster’s gather together to celebrate love and community.
We kicked things off on Friday, July 12 with a fish fry and family fun. We played, sang and laughed all night long.
Saturday morning we showed up and showed out for the Foster Family Photo. We dazzled the Memphis streets in our majestic purple shirts.
We continued the day with a pick-your-adventure style tour of Memphis. One group embarked on the epicenter of the Civil Rights Tour, one group journeyed through the Memphis Soul, Stax Museum Tour, and our last group won big at the Southland Casino.
Later that night we enjoyed the Living Our Ancestors Wildest Dreams Banquet. We learned about our Foster and Goins family history, had a delicious dinner, awarded scholarships, showcased the Fosters Talent, Fostered some Blessing then sang and danced the night away. The DJ was on point and we had plenty of photo opportunities. There’s nothing like good times and creating memories with family!
Early Sunday morning, July 14th, Larry Doss, husband of Rhonda Doss, passed peacefully at home with Rhonda and his hospice nurse, a former choir member, at his side. Larry LIVED and worked a miraculous year and seven months with Pancreatic Cancer. The Doss Family is grateful for all of the well wishes, cards, prayers, messages arrangements, and love. God is intentional and AMAZING⚓️
Foster Family members enjoyed service at the Dosses family church, The Healing Cathedral Christian Church, on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, family members gathered at the designated Doss house to culminate the last day of the reunion with a grill & chill. The BBQ and food was delicious! The children had fun playing in the bounce house and the corn hole game. The grown folks played cards all day and talked trash all night!
Although the 2024 Foster Family reunion ended with Larry transitioning, We are all so happy to have had quality time to spend with family while we are on this side of glory. It was an EPIC reunion! We had a grand time loving on each other. Met some new Fosters and reconnected with other ones.

Claude and wife Ursula Wilson of Marine, California were memorialized on the same day. Claude is the son of the late Ceola and Claude Sr. and the grandson of Julia Foster Brown.
