Family Reunion

“Family is the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our Comfort when we occasionally falter” ~Laura Ramiez

Greetings Family!

Over the years, our family reunion changed from every five years to every three years to every two years. Our Elders check on each other, and when asked how so and so is doing, their response is changing to, “they’re still here.” After much prayer, Rhonda Doss and her committee made the decision to host our family reunion in Memphis, TN. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us, and we will move forward with gathering as a family as soon as possible. Dr. Betty Jo Griffin reached out to many people this year and reminded us of the importance of reconnecting as a family. We’re grateful for her wake-up call.

Family News

Updates

“It’s been over a year since I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in journalism. I have held two full-time positions in the news industry including as a local news reporter in Minneapolis, Minnesota and currently as a journalist at BBC News in Washington, D.C.

Both experiences have been extremely different yet rewarding. At my current position, I have been able to write and produce meaningful content for BBC News’ national and international viewers. A couple of my proudest moments is producing a 26-minute TV special on the Black maternal mortality rate in the US. Separately, I had the honor of meeting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s daughter, Dr. Bernice King, on the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington in front of her father’s memorial in Washington.

My time at the BBC has been fulfilling to say the least and I am excited for future opportunities to do work both in front of and behind the camera. And it’s through the continued love and support from the Foster family that these opportunities are possible! I love and appreciate you all so much!” ~ Jasmine Boykin
